Barley malt peptide powder for formulation evaluation

Barley Malt Peptide

Barley Malt Peptide is a barley-derived peptide ingredient available in malt-flavor, acid-tolerant, umami and plant-protein blend types. HUGE ROC supports specification matching, sample coordination and export inquiries.

Select the type by flavor, pH, heat process, physical form and documentation requirements.

Procurement selection guide

Start the inquiry with the finished application rather than only a generic product name. The appropriate type depends on the flavor brief, target pH, thermal process, appearance and preferred powder form.

  • State the destination country and intended food or beverage category.
  • Identify the required type: malt-flavor, acid-tolerant, umami or plant-protein blend.
  • Provide target protein and peptide reporting bases, molecular-weight method and acceptance limits.
  • Confirm whether an agglomerated or 30-100 mesh powder is preferred.
  • Request the current specification, sample COA, allergen statement, packing data and sample plan before approval.

Export inquiry information

For a useful quotation, include the type, application, trial quantity or commercial quantity, destination port, required documents and preferred packing. Availability, MOQ, lead time and shipment terms are confirmed for each quotation; they are not implied by this page.

Four application types

Malt-flavor type

Designed for formulations where a malt note is part of the sensory target. The source document reports protein at 70-75%, peptide content at 70% and an average molecular weight of 767 Da.

Acid-tolerant type

Intended for evaluation in acidic beverage systems at pH 3-5. The source document reports protein at 75% +/- 3%, peptide content at 70% and an average molecular weight of 767 Da. Clarity, sediment and heat-process performance must be validated in the customer's finished formula.

Umami type

Positioned for savory formulations where umami depth and off-note management are part of the sensory brief. The source document reports protein at 75% +/- 3%, peptide content at 70% and an average molecular weight of 500 Da.

Plant-protein blend type

Intended for use with plant-protein systems after formula trials. The source document reports protein at 75% +/- 3%, peptide content at 70% and an average molecular weight of 900 Da.

These are source-document references, not unconditional commercial guarantees. Confirm the current specification, analytical basis, methods and batch COA for the quoted type.

Physical form, packing and storage

  • Physical form options described in the source: agglomerated powder or 30-100 mesh powder.
  • Reference packing: 20 kg or 25 kg, with a polyethylene inner liner and kraft-paper outer bag.
  • Reference storage: keep unopened product at or below 25 degrees C and relative humidity at or below 65%; protect from light, moisture and strong odors.
  • Reference shelf life: 18 months under the stated unopened storage conditions.

Final packing, pallet configuration, storage statement and shelf life must be confirmed in the current commercial specification.

Barley and gluten allergen review

This is a barley-derived ingredient. Do not assume it is gluten-free. Request an applicable barley/gluten allergen statement and review the destination market's labelling rules before use.

For an external regulatory reference, review the Codex General Standard for the Labelling of Pre-packaged Foods (CXS 1-1985), which identifies barley among cereals containing gluten. Local requirements and the current supplier documents govern the final label decision.

Documents to request before approval

  • Current type-specific product specification and analytical methods
  • Representative or lot-specific COA, as available
  • Barley/gluten allergen statement and destination-market documents
  • Packaging, storage, shelf-life and transport information
  • Sample identification that can be matched to the proposed commercial grade
